Could Castile / Spain have settled all of Macronesia before Portugal?

Basically as the tin says, could Castile have settled all of Macronesia (Canary Islands, Azores, Madeira, and Cape Verde Islands) before Portugal rediscovered/colonized them? What possible impact might Castilian settlement of the additional islands have ?

Well the islands and archipelagos were pretty useless but they could offer a naval base to further expansions. Castille didn’t have the capability to take Madeira or the Azores just because they were fighting Granada and those island are clearly easier to colonize if you are Portugal so there you have it. The islands at that time were only important because slave trade, remember that tourism will come centuries later and the islands have almost no minerals.
