One of my favourite episodes of Spongebob Squarepants is The Algae's Always Greener, where Captain Krabs, after yet another unsuccessful attempt to plunder the secret formula from the Crusty Coral and from Mr. Plankton, ends up sailing his ship into a storm that sends him to an alternate universe where he's the Krusty Krab's owner.
You may or may not know this episode was one big development gag, since when Hillenburg, Ennio Torresan, Erik Wiese, and Mr. Lawrence were making the show and writing scripts, Krabs was the owner of the Krusty Krab, while Plankton was the show's villain, this mad scientist character who ran a rival restaurant across from the it titled the Chum Bucket.
While it might not have affected it that much, would keeping this change the success of the show, which was cancelled after the post movie seasons were critical and rating flops? How would this affect Nickelodeon's state over the next two decades and beyond?
