The American/European Split

Alright, this is implausible, but not ASB so bear with me, what if after the Suez Crisis Britain and America become like OTL America and France with a psuedo Anglo-American split. OTL The Suez crisis did leave a serious burn mark towards America from Britain considering when America asked for assistance in Vietnam from Britain the Prime Minister, simply replied "Suez". (Damn! That must have stung!)
Let's say that Butler is successful in taking power after Eden after Suez and implements his ROBOT plan to secure the economic stability of Britain for a OTL France like situation. What happens next?

What happens next?
Well, no one would want to tip the scales too much, so I would assume that Britain would join France as sort of a fence-sitter, which forces America to find a new ally for their fight against communism. Iran or Japan perhaps? Or maybe America steps back and decides to coalition build with a bunch of smaller nations.

will Britain be able to pull 'a france' like in OTL properly?

No chance of a complete Euro/US split whilst the USSR exists. you could maybe get Europe more independent in economic/political/military sense.

If anything they will be able to do it better. Britain has a massive network of dominions and former colonies they can use to create their own block if they don't want to join Europe.
Most probably i think the commonwealth will become stronger as an economic block

So would the UK stay in NATO, or become a sort of "associate member" like under De Gaulle? Could there even BE a viable NATO with both France and the UK on the periphery, but not integrated into the central military command?

it would exist, but most probably as a loose alliance only against communism

It's hard to see how the Europeans, aside from De Gaulle, would rent the US enough to essentially walk away from NATO. Sounds like you would need a different WW2 ending with more of Germany and maybe Eastern and Southern Europe in the Western camp.

uh no. In fact this was very likely as Britain and the entire Parliament was splitting mad, and for once opposition parties were in agreement with each other that the Americans had betrayed them in Suez. It's not implausible that they would have gone off on their own like France but remained a part of NATO only due to the Russian threat, like France. In fact it was even proposed in the parliament, but by that time, Eisenhower had managed to bring Britain back into its good looks and if Eisenhower mismanaged the international diplomacy, Britain would have well gone its own way
